Good evening.
The first presidential debate is over.
There weren't many fireworks as Bob Dole and Bill Clinton faced each other in
Hartford.
Both sides had agreed they would not question each other.
Mr. Clinton and Mr. Dole spent the past few days cramming and rehearsing for
the debate, and both seemed to be well armed with facts, figures, and the
occasional snappy comeback.
Dole took aim at the President's foreign policy, saying Saddam Hussein is
better off.
And the President accused Dole of being in the tobacco industry's pocket.
