The U-S Supreme Court today refused to hear the appeals of three Virginia
death row inmates.
The justices did not comment in rejecting the appeals of Lem
Tuggle, Christopher Goins and Michael Williams.
Tuggle is the last survivor of a six-inmate gang that pulled off
the largest death-row escape in U-S history in 1984.
He was sentenced to die for the 1983 rape and murder of a woman in Smyth
County.

Lynchburg police say the theft of four canisters of nitrous oxide over the
weekend is no laughing matter.
Someone broke into a storage area at Lynchburg General Hospital and removed
the tanks, each weighing about 200 pounds.
Authorities say the nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas", can be
deadly if inhaled in great amounts.
There's also a danger of explosion if the canisters are dropped.
Anyone with information about the theft should call the Lynchburg police.

arthroscopic surgery on his left knee at Montgomery regional hospital.
It was an exploratory procedure, but doctors ended up trimming some loose
cartilage. Cornell will miss Saturday's game and at least the Pitt game in
three weeks.
But while Cornell is out, Marcus Parker is in.
Frank Beamer announced this afternoon that the former Friday Football Extra
player of the week from Salem will be back in uniform this Saturday.
He has missed the first four games of the season after begin suspended back
on August 13th after pleading no contest to a shoplifting charge.

Anderson played his first seven years with the Rams, where he and Ellard

the Indianapolis Colts last year before going on injured reserve with a knee
