It weighs 42 tons today, and sadly, it's still growing.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit the AIDS quilt, on display in D.C. this weekend.
When it began, it was a city block long... now it stretches from the Washington Monument to the foot of the capital.
The quilt is normally divided up and spread across the country. This is the first time the whole quilt has been together in 4 years.
Organizers say by the year 2000, the quilt will be too large to display in one place.
