An elderly Pittsylvania County man was killed this afternoon when his
tractor overturned.
A Sheriff's Deputy says 84- year old Carl Nichols was trying to remove some
trees when the tractor flipped over.
The accident happened about a mile off Route 29 near Blairs.
Nichols died at the scene.

Last year Elliott Sadler was stripped of his trophy and first place check
when NASCAR inspectors discovered during a post race inspection that the team
had illegally angled the cylinder heads in the engine.

Yesterday the crime was the same, but the culprit was North Carolina's Jay
Fogleman. NASCAR stripped him of his $30 thousand dollars in winnings and
awarded the money to second place finisher B.A. Wilson.
Wilson started the final 100 laps of the race in the lead but had slipped
back to fourth on the final lap.
That was before race leader David Hyder was spun out in turn one by David
Blankenship.
Wilson and Fogleman avoided the mess and made it across the line ahead of
Blankenship.
Now just think if it hadn't been for that spin, Hyder would have won the race
and all of this controversy probably would have been avoided.
