During this campaign... Goodlatte is ALSO pointing to his Congressional accomplishments.
Notably... getting Southern Virginia College back on track and pushing for a couple of new Federal highways for the area.
But the potential interstates have gotten him in trouble with some environmental groups.
In fact, the League of Conservation Voters gave him a rating of zero on a one hundred point scale. Stand up
Goodlatte has a distinct advantage over his opponents when it comes to campaign funds.
According to the most recent reports... the incumbent has raised nearly 600- thousand dollars-- more than twice the amount of his challengers combined. End stand up
One way he's done it is through big money, fundraiser dinners... like this one a few weeks ago at the Hotel Roanoke.
But on that night, his campaign suffered somewhat of a set back.
Goodlatte invited Sonny Bono-- the entertainer turned Congressman from California.
During the dinner, Bono raised eyebrows when he said the U- S uses hit squads to support the Haitian government... comments Bono couldn't back up.
