According to the study in Science Magazine, it forms when the tobacco smoke
carcinogen called benzo-A-PYrene-- or BP, enters the lungs.
In the body it transforms into a new compound-- B-P-D-E, which then travels
to the critical gene-- P-53, known to protect us from lung cancer.
It disables that guardian gene, which allows tumors to multiply.

There was another report released this week, with cigarette warnings.
Australian researchers say babies born to mothers who smoked during
pregnany can't breathe as well.
And, the newborns are more likely to develop wheezing.
The damage appears to happen when the fetus' lungs are forming.

Researchers in Manchester, England weighed, measured and analyzed growth
hormones in a group of children over the course of a year.
