The Governor said he did not discuss V-M-I's request for additional funding
yesterday with Superintendent Josiah Bunting.
But he DID say he wants to help, and he believes the taxpayers would accept
SOME additional expense.
The Supreme Court ruled June 26th that V-M-I cannot continue to accept state
funds without opening its enrollment to women.
One of the ironies is: it will almost certainly cost the state more to
comply with the court order.

A state correctional officer faces drug charges following a tip from a
scanner buff who overheard suspicious telephone conversations.
Authorities say Richard Quarles was already under investigation, but the
information from the tipster helped them obtain a search warrant.
Investigators say they found just over three ounces of cocaine and a pound
of marijuana in Quarles' Roanoke County home.
Quarles has reportedly resigned his position at the Botetourt Correctional
Unit. Authorities say they have no evidence that he distributed drugs in the
prison.
