Members of the Roanoke group Rebuilding The Black Community say they're making small strides every day.
Today the organization sponsored "The Thousand Family March."
And though the numbers didn't come close to the title, organizers say the steps have been taken to build a better tomorrow.

People trying to get their first driver's license may soon have to pass another test... a drug test.
President Clinton proposed the test in his radio address today.
He also ordered states to crack down on people under 21 who drink any amount of alcohol, no matter how small, and then drive.

Cuba was not so lucky yesterday.

Lili's 90 mile-an-hour winds blew down buildings and drove people from their homes in Havana.
But no one was killed. Lili's path missed the most densely populated areas of the Island, and more than 175 people were evacuated from dangerous locations.
The wind and falling trees cut off power to much of Island overnight. Cuban officials say about 50 homes were destroyed.

True to form, the Botetourt Mounted Search and Rescue squad today came to the aid of a museum dedicated to area rescue workers.
Unit members brought along several of their four-legged friends to break the ice with visitors.

These search and rescue dogs help emergency service workers find lost people.
They're not regular tracking dogs. They're called "Air Scent" dogs which means the animals pick up a human scent through the air and not by following a scent on the ground.
When the dogs are fully certified they'll accompany the team on rescue efforts.

Workers from P-Y-A-Monarch Foods spent the morning picking up trash at several exits on interstate 81.
Their day started at 8 and you can tell by the number of bags of trash the group collected that their efforts were sorely needed.
The Virginia Department of Transportation sponsored the "Great State Trash-Off."
The state-wide, one-day effort focused on cleaning up litter along the roads and river banks.
The event is part of Adopt-A-Highway month.
More than 63-hundred volunteer groups across the state help keep over 14-thousand miles of highways clean year-round.

Barber's punt return for a touchdown made it 7 to nothing then with 3-minutes left in the first he bounces out side and scores on the three yard run Virginia led 7 to nothing.
Virginia would get it back moments later. Jamie Barnette goes to the air but his pass is intercepted by Poindexter giving the Cavaliers the ball at the State 36 yard line.
A couple of plays later Virginia went to the air. Tim sherman on the fade pattern to Germaine Crowell for the 16 yard touchdown the Cavaliers led 21 to nothing.
After a field goal and turnover Virginia got it back. Sherman goes to the air again this time he hooks up with Brian Owen on the fade pattern the Cavaliers led 31 to nothing.
Barber would get his third touchdown of the day just before the half he takes the handoff and races down the sideline from 52 yards out and the Cavaliers led 45 to nothing at the half.
Virginia would score 17 more points SUPER=36-Virginia/62/N.C.

state/14/;in the second half and the Cavaliers go on to rout the Wolfpack 62 to 14 setting up next weeks showdown at Florida State.
