That's the maximum sentence the judge could impose on Christopher Shawn Wheeler, who pled guilty in August to second degree murder and a related firearms charge.
Wheeler shot and killed deputy Clifford Dicker when Dicker tried to serve him with arrest papers.
The defense was hoping Wheeler could serve a lesser sentence in a juvenile detention center, saying he was a victim of a traumatic childhood and poor upbringing.

Palestinians have walked out on peace talks, claiming the Israelis are reneging on existing agreements.
But a U-S source says both sides have agreed to return to the table.
The American official says the negotiations have produced good results so far, including an agreement on authority for building permits.
Israel says there are only small details left to resolve regarding its pullout from the West Bank town of Hebron.
U-S mediator Dennis Ross is returning to Washington until the talks resume.
Secretary of State Warren Christopher says that should be within a week.

Children of smokers need extra oxygen after surgery, much more often than other youngsters do.

Of 17 youngsters who needed extra oxygen, 15 lived with secondhand smoke.
Doctors at the Maimonides (my-MAW'-nuh-deez) Medical Center in New York, didn't expect the difference to be so striking.
