Thousands of firefighters are battling five wind- driven wildfires in southern California.
And so far the fires are winning.
The flames continue their relentless path toward the ocean, leaving behind thousands of charred acres and almost one hundred damaged or destroyed homes.

One single fire near San Diego has destroyed around 60 homes.
A blaze farther north in Malibu destroyed at least two homes.
The Marines have now been called in to help fight the blazes.
