((Inside court, when Daniel Petrocelli, attorney for the father of murder
victim Ron Goldman began his opening statements, he told the jury a familiar
story. How on the night of June 12, 1994, Ron Goldman returned a pair of
glasses to Simpson's ex-wife Nicole and both were savagely murdered on her
front walkway.
"Ron Goldman," he told the jury, "died with his eyes open and saw the person
who killed him and Nicole."
And, Petrocelli said, he would prove "Ron and Nicole died at the hands of OJ
Simpson."
And he told them Simpson doesn't have an alibi, because "he was not seen by
anybody alive for one hour and 20 minutes", right at the time of the murders.
Petrocelli also said he'd show them a picture proving Simpson also owned a
pair of size 12 Bruno Magli shoes, just like those which left bloody
footprints at the murder scene. In deposition, Simpson said he'd never wear
such ugly shoes.
And in an interview with CBS News, he balked at the question:
REPORTER: WHAT ABOUT THOSE BRUNO MAGLI SHOES? OJ: I CAN'T GET INTO THAT.
READ THE DEPOSITION. REPORTER: BUT THEY SAY THEY HAVE A PICTURE. SIMPSON: I'M
NOT GETTING INTO THAT. READ THE DEPOSITION.
And while the story was familiar, Petrocelli promised to introduce
evidence the criminal prosecutors did not, like Simpson's statement to the
police...and his flight in the Bronco...and his so-called suicide letter:
BILL WHITAKER: Through it all, the jury seemed riveted. Simpson at
times looked pained. He's likely to have more discomfort as the plaintiff's

BOTETOURT AND NORTHSIDE ARE TIED FOR THE DISTRICT LEAD WITH 3 LEAGUE GAMES
REMAINING.
The Vikings and Cavaliers are on a collision course to play for the district
regular season crown next Tuesday. BUT Marilyn Bussey and David Wheat must keep
their teams focussed on tomorrow night's games against Salem and Byrd - two
dangerous opponents.
((MARILYN BUSSEY:))
Blacksburg and Christiansburg are a combined 6 and 15 in district play most of
the way through their first year in the Blue Ridge, but the coaches like what
they see.
((MICKEY:))
Whose hot in Double AA?? To name a few, Staunton River's Crystal English is
averaging about 12 points a game.
((TOM KARNES:))
Jefferson Forest's Dawn Coleman goes 10 deep, but counts heavily on Melinda
Minnick, the teams leading scorer, who averages about 15 points a game.
((DAWN COLEMAN:))
IN SINGLE A, WE'VE TEMPORARILY LOST A GREAT KING FROM THE COACHING RANKS,
RADFORD HEAD COACH BRENDA KING HAS LEFT HER POST TO FOCUS ON HER FAMILY, WE
HOPE SHE RETURNS SOON. RICK CORMANDY IS HER REPLACEMENT.
No one can replace Shawsville as the top scorer in the Three rivers. Her 23
points per game average is still #1.
((MEGAN:))
Floyd's Sara Conner is the 5th leading district scorer at 14 points a pop.
The Three Rivers will lose one of it's stars next year - to softball.
