For the past 88 days, the world has come to know Richard Jewell as the

Centennial Olympic Park. Today, for the first time, Jewell addressed
the media.
JEWELL, AFTER 88 DAYS OF HELL, IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE IT'S FINALLY OVER.
I AM AN INNOCENT MAN.
Security Guard Jewell was at first applauded as a hero for alerting bomb
squads to a suspicious-looking knapsack in Centennial Park. Within days of the
bombing, the FBI turned its focus to Jewell as its primary suspect.
Nearly 3 months later, on October 26, U.S. Attorney Kent Alexander sent
Jewell's attorneys a letter, letting them know that he is no longer considered
a suspect.
LIN WOOD/JEWELL'S ATTORNEY: THIS MAN IS INNOCENT. THEY KNOW IT. THEY SAY THEY
REGRET IT, AND WELL THEY SHOULD.
JAMES FOX, RETIRED FBI AGENT, CBS NEWS CONSULTANT: IT'S VERY RARE. AND
BECAUSE IT'S SO RARE, IT REALLY AMOUNTS TO AN APOLOGY.
That doesn't appear to be enough for Jewell's attorneys.
WAYNE GRANT/JEWELL'S ATTORNEY: WE'RE GONNA BE SUING THE ATLANTA JOURNAL, NBC
AND TOM BROKAW AND OTHER NEWS ORGANIZATIONS.
