Authorities were trying to stop Wilbur Gilbert Scearce.
The 35- year- old was wanted for questioning surrounding the disappearance

driveway.

Authorities say Scearce took his own life this morning after four hours of
negotiations with police and a minister.
Scearce's 33- year- old wife, Tammy Agnor Scearce, was discovered in the
trunk of Scearce's car.
Authorities are not sure how she died.
Both bodies have been sent to Roanoke for autopsies.

man in serious condition.

It happened at the end of the off ramp at exit 1-95 in Timberidge last
night.
State Police say the tractor trailer driver was attempting to turn onto
Route 11 when the man in the pickup truck drove UNDERNEATH the trailer.
The driver of the pickup had to be cut out of the truck and flown to Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.
No word yet on his identity.
The driver of the tractor trailer did not suffer any injuries.
Traffic was blocked in both lanes of Route 11 for several hours.

The con man has been calling people on the phone, pretending to be a state
trooper raising money.
He tells them he needs to come to their homes to pick up the cash.
So far, it appears at least five people have fallen victim to the scam.
State Police say if anyone gets a call from someone with this particular
pitch, to get in touch with them.

In Pittsylvania, a lengthy police standoff ended early this morning in an
apparent murder- suicide.

It all began around 8-30 last night with a high speed chase from Danville
into Pittsylvania County.
Authorities were pursuing 35- year- old Wilbur Gilbert Scearce (Scarce)
concerning the whereabouts of his wife.
Scearce apparently ended the chase by pulling into his driveway.
Authorities say when he got out of the car Scearce pointed a revolver at his
head.
Shortly after 1 this morning, and after four hours of negotiations,
sheriff's officials say Scearce took his own life.
The body of his wife, 33- year- old Tammy Agnor Scearce was discovered in
the trunk.

Police say 72- year- old Hubert Dudley Dun was driving his tractor down

farm their home.
But their temperaments are as different as night and day.
Broce says Trisket is gentle and accepted human contact soon after the
adoption.
And while Trisket isn't fully trained Broce can ride the gelding on a
limited basis.
Alley on the other hand is a bit on the wild side.
Broce says getting close to the mare has taken a lot of patience.
