The plane went down yesterday in a residential section, killing 101
people...that includes all 96 people on board the plane, and five on the

Ford and Chrysler joining forces to admit that air bags are not as safe as they

The big three have launched a massive letter campaign -- warning 22
million car owners that passenger-side air bags can sgriouwly injure and
sometimes kill children.

According to government statistics, 28 children have died of injuries
caused by airbags.. which can explode at up to 200 miles per hour.
Along with mailing letters, America's largest automakers are drawing up warning
labels urging parents to buckle their kids up in the back seat.

The big three will also also create an airbag with a lower explosion speed
for the canadian market.
But those new airbags will not be available here in the U-S until federal
regulations are changed. and that may take some time.

Police say 21 year old Larry Hicks was spotted at about two this morning
pouring gas on a back door and the walls of Corned Beef and Company on
Jefferson Street.
Fire did NOT break out.
Hicks took off when a worker spotted him- and led police on a chase.
Hicks had reportedly been in the restaurant earlier in the evening and was
asked to leave after he had a fight with another customer.
Police found a gas can and matches in Hicks car.

A new non-invasive pre-natal test is offering some hope in detecting
genetic abnormalities in unborn babies.

The most common tests currently used are Amnioscentesis and CVS.
Both procedures carry a small risk of miscarriage.
But as reported in the Journal "Nature Genetics"-- a new blood test might
elminate that risk.
Researchers at the University of California made the discovery on
collecting fetal cells from the mother's blood.
With work, they believe the test may be able to uncover genetic
disorders-- that up to now-- have gone undetected.

a couple.
They're staying in adjacent, separate enclosures-- zookeepers worry
familiarity could breed contempt.
Instead, they want baby pandas, so they're being kept apart until it's
their time.
The pandas are on loan from China for the next dozen years.
The only other panda in this country lives at Washington's National Zoo.
