A Halifax County elementary school teacher has been released on bond after being arrested yesterday on drug and various other charges.
37- year- old Henry Richardson Junior was charged with drunk driving, possession of marijuana, and possession of a concealed handgun.
Richardson teaches at Clover Elementary.
He was arrested in front of Halifax County Middle School.
This is the second time this year a Halifax County teacher has been arrested on drug charges.

The Pentagon report says an F-16 was patrolling the Iraqi "no-fly" zone when the pilot's instruments said he'd been targeted by a radar site.
The instruments were wrong, but officials say it was proper to respond to what the pilot thought was a threat.

Iraqi officials say no incident of any kind has occurred in Iraqi air space.

Road blocks were set up in every major city.

Israelis were urged to stay away from shopping malls, and be careful while riding busses.

Dallas Don Moody entered the service in mid-January of 1944. His family called him Don, but the government knew him as Dallas.
He served on a plane similar to this B-24 Liberator.
During his nine months in the service he wrote 250 letters to his family in Vinton and his mother saved every one.
The letters often contained code words--for instance he always signed his letters "Don", except when he went on a mission, then it was "Dallas."
After his death his letters were turned into a book called "An Aerial Gunner From Virginia."

First Union will transfer its Mortgage Service Center from downtown Roanoke to Raleigh, leaving the bank with barely any employees in the tower that bears its name.
The 120 displaced people will be offered other jobs with the bank, mostly at its Roanoke County operations center.
Personnel at the region's largest health care provider are looking at union membership because of concerns about how a reorganization has affected patient care.
The Carilion Health System says quality patient care is its number one priority, and union interference is contrary to the best environment for its employees and patients.
Premier Bankshares of Bluefield is merging with First Virginia Banks in a 160- million dollar stock swap.
The deal is not expected to affect Premier's 400- plus workforce.
But jobs will be lost in South Boston, where Georgia Pacific is closing its particle board plant.
Georgia Pacific says it's doing this because of market conditions and the plant's age.
Best Products is going out of business.
The troubled retailer has stores in Roanoke and Lynchburg, each with 55 full and part time employees.

This year Special Olympics International introduced the unified team concept.
Unified teams are made up of half Special Olympic athletes and the other team members are not mentally handicapped.
