((
President Clinton is making the most of the final hours of what he calls the last campaign of his life. The president is hoping that sweeping through five states in 24 hours will widen the gap between himself and challenger Bob Dole.
A boost to the clinton campaign is the Vice-President.. who has shed his stiff image in favor of evangelist-like fervor.
At a rally in Cleveland, Gore brought the house down. VICE-PRESIDENT AL GORE: TOMORROW NIGHT WHEN THE VOTES ARE COUNTED THE STATE OF OHIO WILL PUT CLINTON-GORE OVER THE TOP. PRESIDENT CLINTON: I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE VICE PRESIDENT HAD FOR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING BUT IF HE HAD TWO MORE BITES HE'D HAVE BLOWN THE ROOF OFF!
The Clinton-Gore powerhouse continues to hammer away at Bob Dole and Speaker Newt gingrich: PRESIDENT CLINTON: A GOOD REASON TO VOTE IS THAT GINGRICH SAYS HE'LL RESIGN IF THE DEMOCRATS TAKE OVER. NOW THAT'S AN INCENTIVE!
And as Clinton makes his way to Little Rock, Bob Dole is battling laryngitis on his own six state sweep. In Houston, Dole reiterated his theme of indignance.. at an administration he says is corrupt. BOB DOLE, R-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE I MAY NOT KEEP MY VOICE, BUT I WILL KEEP MY WORD. I'M GLAD TO BRING INTEGRITY TO THE WHITE HOUSE BECAUSE WE MISS IT, MISS IT, MISS IT.
Dole pledges to travel around-the-clock in these final hours of what he calls "the road to victory." He'll reach his hometown of russell, kansas, tomorrow morning to cast his vote.
Meanwhile here in Little Rock the excitement is building toward the early morning arrival of the man everyone here thinks is a shoo-in for re-election.
