Our top story this Monday night, November 4th---
It's Election Eve and the Warner's hope their last rounds around the state
today will earn them some last minute votes.
You're watching News 7 PRIMETIME on WEFC.
I'm Connie Stevens.
Senator John Warner and Democratic challenger Mark Warner both made
list-ditch appeals for votes today.
The SENATOR touched down in Roanoke in his four- city final day fly- around.
He pitched his record to Roanoke Republicans and talked about record
spending by his opponent.

Both candidates wrapped up the day's campaigning with rallies in Richmond.
Voters will go to the polls tomorrow to choose between the 69-year-old
Republican incumbent and the 41-year-old telecommunications tycoon.
Polls open at six A-M and close at seven P-M.
President Clinton and Bob Dole are cramming thousands of miles
into their last 24 hours on the campaign trail.
Even with the latest CBS News/New York Times Poll showing the President
headed towards a landslide victory tomorrow, he's taking nothing for granted--
While Dole is pushing his fight, and his stamina, to the limit.

President Clinton is making the most of the final hours of what he calls
the last campaign of his life. The president is hoping that sweeping
through five states in 24 hours will widen the gap between himself and
challenger Bob Dole.
A boost to the clinton campaign is the Vice-President.. who has shed his
stiff image in favor of evangelist-like fervor.
At a rally in Cleveland, Gore
brought the house down.
VICE-PRESIDENT AL GORE: TOMORROW NIGHT WHEN THE VOTES ARE COUNTED THE STATE OF
OHIO WILL PUT CLINTON-GORE OVER THE TOP.
PRESIDENT CLINTON: I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE VICE PRESIDENT HAD FOR BREAKFAST THIS
MORNING BUT IF HE HAD TWO MORE BITES HE'D HAVE BLOWN THE ROOF OFF!
The Clinton-Gore powerhouse continues to hammer away at Bob Dole and
Speaker Newt gingrich:
PRESIDENT CLINTON: A GOOD REASON TO VOTE IS THAT GINGRICH SAYS HE'LL RESIGN IF
THE DEMOCRATS TAKE OVER. NOW THAT'S AN INCENTIVE!
And as Clinton makes his way to Little Rock, Bob Dole is battling
laryngitis on his own six state sweep. In Houston, Dole reiterated his theme
of indignance.. at an administration he says is corrupt.
BOB DOLE, R-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE
I MAY NOT KEEP MY VOICE, BUT I WILL KEEP MY WORD. I'M GLAD TO BRING INTEGRITY
TO THE WHITE HOUSE BECAUSE WE MISS IT, MISS IT, MISS IT.
Dole pledges to travel around-the-clock in these final hours of what he
calls "the road to victory." He'll reach his hometown of russell, kansas,
tomorrow morning to cast his vote.
Meanwhile here in Little Rock the excitement is building toward the early
morning arrival of the man everyone here thinks is a shoo-in for re-election.

Norfolk Southern and C-S-X have been talking about their competing attempts
to purchase Conrail.

C-S-X has about 230 people working out of its terminal in Clifton Forge.
The two Virginia- based rail lines have been courting Conrail for more than
a decade, because of its strong market share in the northeast.
