A Roanoke mailman has been accused of stalking his patrons.
Anthony Tyler Jefferson allegedly targeted FIVE different women on his mail route in southeast Roanoke.
Most of the incidents occurred in August. The 36-year old letter carrier was indicted today for stalking, making obscene phone calls, assault and battery.
Chief Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Betty Jo Anthony says Jefferson was indicted LAST month for breaking and entering with intent to commit rape- -also on his mail route.
Jefferson is already out on bond but reportedly lost his job with the Postal Service over the B-and-E.

Fire authorities say careless smoking probably killed a Lynchburg man yesterday.

80- year- old Russell T. Iseman (EYE-suh-min) died when his Toledo Avenue home caught fire Sunday morning.
Investigators say Iseman was a heavy smoker, and a stray cigar apparently ignited a chair in his living room.
The fire smoldered for some time before neighbors noticed the smoke and called the fire department.
It's believed Iseman died of smoke inhalation several hours before the fire was reported.

Salem police have identified the man found dead inside a church last week as 22 year old Christopher Lunsford of Roanoke.
Authorities asked for the public's help after finding no identification on the body.
Investigators still don't know how Lunsford died, but they say there are no signs of foul play.

The state's largest health insurer is planning to cancel its contract with Danville Regional Medical Center.

Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield says the hospital's costs are approximately 30- percent higher than those of comparable facilities in the area.
A Danville Regional spokesman says the hospital was under the impression it still had 60- days to work out a new contract.
If the two sides are unable to reach an agreement, Danville Regional will be dropped from Trigon's network January first.
Danville Regional says whatever happens patients with Trigon coverage will NOT be turned away.
