Virginia's approximately three million registered voters will not only decide on a president, but also a U-S senator and members of Congress.

Polls show Republican incumbent John Warner with a solid lead, as he seeks his fourth term in the U-S Senate.
His Democratic challenger, multi-millionaire businessman Mark Warner, is making his first run for public office.
In the sixth district Congressional race, Republican incumbent Bob Goodlatte is seeking his third term in Congress.
He is challenged by Democrat Jeff Grey, who has taken a leave from his job as a communications technician.
Also in the race is Libertarian challenger, Jay Rutledge.
In the race for a seat in Congress representing the 9th district, incumbent and Democrat Rick Boucher is seeking his 8th term.
His challengers are Republican Patrick Muldoon, a first year Law student at William and Mary,
and reform Party Candidate Tom Roberts.

Lynchburg fire ivestigators believe smoking is to blame for Sunday's fatal house fire.

80- year- old Russell T. Iseman (EYE-suh-min) died when his Toledo Avenue home caught fire.
Investigators say (EYE-suh-min) Iseman was a heavy smoker, and a stray cigar apparently ignited a chair in his living room.
The fire smoldered for some time before neighbors noticed the smoke and called the fire department.
It's believed (EYE-suh-min) Iseman died of smoke inhalation several hours before the fire was reported.

A four year old boy died last from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Police say Jeremiah Garret Warf was was riding in a car with his mother when she ran off route 7-35 in Carroll County and hit a tree.
Authorities say the boy was not wearing a seat belt.
He died after being transported to the hospital.

Virginia's largest health insurer says it plans to drop Danville Regional Medical Center from its network.

A press release from Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield indicates the move is a financial one.
The health insurer says the hospital's costs are approximately 30-percent higher than those of comparable facilities in the area.
A Danville Regional spokesman says the hospital was under the impression it still had 60-days to work out a new contract.
If the two sides are not able to reach an agreement, the hospital will be dumped from Trigon's network January first.
Danville Regional says regardless of the outcome, patients with Trigon coverage will NOT be turned away.
