His Democratic challenger, multi-millionaire businessman Mark Warner, is making his first run for public office.
In the sixth district Congressional race, Republican incumbent Bob Goodlatte is seeking his third term in Congress.
He is challenged by Democrat Jeff Grey, who has taken a leave from his job as a communications technician.
Also in the race is Libertarian challenger, Jay Rutledge.
In the race for a seat in Congress representing the 9th district, incumbent and Democrat Rick Boucher is seeking his 8th term.
His challengers are Republican Patrick Muldoon, a first year Law student at William and Mary,
and reform Party Candidate Tom Roberts.

A single car accident took the life of a four- year- old boy last night.
Police say Jeremiah Garret Warf was was riding in the car with his mother when she ran off route 735 in Carroll County and hit a tree.
The boy was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to Twin County Regional Hospital, where he later died.
No word on yet on other injuries or possible charges.

Fire authorities say careless smoking probably killed a Lynchburg man Sunday.

80- year- old Russell T. Iseman (EYE-suh-min) died when his Toledo Avenue home caught fire.
Investigators say Iseman was a heavy smoker, and a stray cigar apparently ignited a chair in his living room.
The fire smoldered for some time before neighbors noticed the smoke and called the fire department.
It's believed Iseman died of smoke inhalation several hours before the fire was reported.

A letter carrier was indicted yesterday for stalking women on his postal route in Southeast Roanoke.
The incidents occurred in July and August. Anthony Tyler Jefferson is accused in an eight- count indictment of stalking, making obscene phone calls, assault and battery.
Chief Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Betty Jo Anthony says Jefferson was indicted LAST month for breaking and entering with intent to commit rape- -also on his mail route.
Jefferson is already out on bond ...but lost his job with the Postal Service over the breaking and entering charge.

Virginia's largest health insurer says it plans to dump Danville Regional Medical Center from its network.

A press release from Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield indicates the move is a financial one.
The health insurer says the hospital's costs are approximately 30-percent higher than those of comparable facilities in the area.
A Danville Regional spokesman says the hospital was under the impression it still had 60-days to work out a new contract.
If the two sides are not able to reach an agreement, the hospital will be dropped from Trigon's network January first.
Danville Regional says regardless of the outcome, patients with Trigon coverage will NOT be turned away.

Last night, he brought the Broncos from behind to win for the 39th time in his career.

But Jeff Hostetler passed to Derrick Fenner for the score, and the Raiders were within two midway through the fourth quarter.
The Raiders then forced the Broncos to punt, and on the ensuing possession, Hostetler goes deep to Tim Brown for the Go- ahead score.
That's when Elway took over. A 49 yard scoring pass to a wide open Rod Smith puts Denver on top to stay, 22- 21.
