Athletic Director Dave Braine and Tech president Paul Torgersen.

Barry Cohen, an analyst with Bear Stearns, explains that the C-S-X Conrail
deal is extremely complicated and stacked in favor of C-S-X.
Cohen says, for example, that the C-S-X- Conrail merger could get approved
with only a small percentage of Conrail shareholders voting in favor of it.
But another railroad expert we spoke with says the latest C-S-X offer still
Conrail shareholders will vote on the merger next month.
So even though N-S may have been dealt a setback, its not out of the running
for Conrail just yet.

Danville Regional Medical Center is taking aim at Virginia's largest health
Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield says it plans to drop the non-profit hospital
from its network at the end of December.
Trigon says the hospital's costs are approximately 30 percent higher than
comparable facilities in the area.

((Tom Karnes is in his 3rd year as the Staunton River girls basketball coach.
His toughest loss of the season and of his life came on Tuesday, September
18th, when his father, Walter Karnes, passed away.
Karnes's outlook changed when his team came to the the funeral that Thursday
and put on the performance of a lifetime.
The team sang "Down at the Cross", a song that has become an integral part
of the Lady Golden Eagles game preparation.
The incredible gesture, also reinforced a coach's faith in not only a high
school team, but young people in general.
The lady Golden Eagles are competing in the tough Seminole District
Tournament. But win or lose this team has been successful in ways that reach
