Welcome everybody to Friday Football extra, Week number 11, the final week
of the regular season.
Once again Mother Nature has played a role in the action, but we were still
able to round up nine big games for you on this edition of Friday Football
Plus, at the end's of the show we'l take a unofficial look at the upcoming
playoffs and see how things stack up in Division One through 6.
But first we begin the highlights up in Giles County where the temperatures
dropped right along with visiting Shawsville.
SUPER=51-Pearisburg/Shawsville vs. Giles; :00
Not even a cold wind and rain could keep the die hard Spartan fans home
tonight in Pearisburg.
But Shawsville looked sharp early in the game as Chris Graham. the former
player of the week, turns in a 37 yard run for a big first down for the
Giles then turned up the heat on defense as Brian Caswell attempts to catch
this pass, but instead catches Matt Whitehead's hit instead. Now that really
feels good on a cold night!
The Spartans offense then got busy with Chris Ratcliffe tiptoes in from a
couple of yards away to make it 8-to-nothing.
Steve Ragsdale's team would light up the scoreboard one more time, as Shawn
Vaught gets the call and scores from five yards away and Giles wins the Three
Rivers and completes another unbeaten season with the 42 to 14 win over
Earlier this week Covington head coach John Woodzell told his team that
tonight's game with Glenvar would be as last.
Tonight, while the Cougars were warming up for their battle with Highlanders,
"Coach Woody" took a few moments to reflect on the impact he's made on high
school football in this part of the state.

With the score tied at 14-all to start the second half, Glenvar will take the
lead with Linwood Twine running over the middle and into the zone to give
Glenvar a 21-to-14 lead.
Covington would answer that with a 69 yard march with number 36 William
Stewart taking it up the gut to tie things at 21-all.
Covington would take the lead for good when Tracy Walker cut back over

The Brookville cheerleaders have had a lot to cheer about this season as they
got fired up for they hoped would be the team's ninth win of the year tonight.
The band members were also raring to go despite having to don the rain gear
And again, the "Bee-Fense" had plenty of sting tonight as they stop the Red
Devils running game cold.
On the other hand, the Bees running game wore the Red Devils defense down.
Edwin Brown gets great blocking on this 12 yard burst up the middle moving the
ball inside the Rustburg 10.
Three plays later, Chris Nicholas takes it over from the one yard line to
give the Bees a 7-to-nothing lead.
Michael Barr contributed on defense as well as he sacks the quarterback. The
Bees clinch a share of the Seminole crown with the 32 to 14 win.

The Spartans defense would stiffen again in the first half, as Jamie Garst

Three plays later, Dennis Haley

While Salem was caging the Cats, the only district team to beat the Spartans
