Good Evening.

Liberty University owes about 15-million dollars to investors who bought bonds the school issued in the 1980's.
(----------------)
VO-NAT
SUPER=03-Lynchburg;

The cash-strapped university had offered to make a lump sum payment of half that total.
Liberty says it withheld interest payments while it waited to hear whether that deal would be accepted.
But the committees that control the account reportedly never informed the bondholders of the offer.
Over the weekend, those same committees threatened to foreclose on the school unless the interest payments were made.
Liberty says it gave in by paying the million dollars to the quote-- "reckless and unreasonable demands" of the bondholders' committee.

Roanoke police are on the lookout tonight for an alleged carjacker.
48-year old John Alexander Carter told police he was driving along Center Avenue, Northwest-- when a man gestured for him to pull over.
Another man wearing a white stocking cap opened the passenger door of Carter's truck.
Authorities say the man brandished a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.
When they didn't find any cash in Carter's wallet, the suspect fired shots through the truck's window.
Carter jumped out of his 1997 Dodge Ram pickup.
Police found the truck in northwest Roanoke, but say the suspect is still at large.
