A man arrested in Roanoke in March following a high speed chase has been
sentenced to life in prison.
23- year- old Shaun Michael Love began his crime spree March 5th in Prince
George County after fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, Sayonara McLaughlin.
The chase began the same day in Bedford after Love started robbing motels in
Amherst County and Lynchburg.

Love finally wrecked in Roanoke at the intersection of Orange Avenue and
He shot McLaughlin after a appearance in juvenile court to set a trial date.
Love was accused of assaulting McLaughlin.
He was sentenced yesterday.
A regional criminal investigation team and Roanoke officials are
investigating the city's Juvenile Detention home.
The city became aware of allegations concerning staff members and missing
supplies back in September.
Officials have started an internal investigation and requested the Roanoke
Valley Criminal Investigating Team check for illegal actions.
Since the two inquiries began, several complaints have surfaced concerning
staff members using excessive force on teenage residents.

The Roanoke Valley Criminal Investigation team will present its findings to
the Botetourt County Commonwealth's Attorney.
That's because the home is actually in Botetourt County.
The investigation team is made up of law officers from all of the Roanoke
Valley police departments.
More than 40 property owners in the Garden City section of Roanoke City have
the opportunity to never worry about flood damage again.
The federal government has awarded the Star City nearly two million dollars
to buy up property located in a flood-way.

Isobel Bikulege had only lived in her home two months when high waters
carried many of her belongings away.

These property owners and 40 others in Garden City are eligible to become a
part of a hazard mitigation program.
The federal government is funding 75 percent of the program which offers
property owners of flood-prone structures the opportunity to move out.
These federal, state and local funds will be used to buy the buildings at
fair market value.
