45 year- old William Roberts of Salem was driving down Fourth Street last
night when he crossed the double yellow line at Wilson Street striking the car
driven by Sarver.
Another passenger in Sarver's car suffered minor injuries.
Roberts was treated and released from the hospital.
The accident happened around 10 o'clock.
Police are still investigating.

Emergency crews are on the scene of a petroleum spill in Martinsville.
Officials say the fuel is running into the storm drains near Aaron and Broad
Street.
At this point the regional hazmat team from Danville is exploring the drains
trying to find the source of the leak.
Officials say most of the petroleum has been contained.
It does not appear to be harmful to residents.

Church members weren't forced to sell, but the redevelopment left them with
no parking or direct access to the church.
The Housing and Redevelopment Authority bought up most of the property in

Meadows says the prices were less than fair.
But the financial loss wasn't what hurt Meadows the most.

The main airline serving our area has some big changes on the way.
USAir announced it's changing its name to USAirways, and it's making
progress in its effort to cut its costs.
A company that makes automatic teller machines will put a plant in Danville.
Diebold Incorporated says the city can eventually bank on about 300 new
jobs.
A new contract will bring about 90 new jobs to the CFW directory assistance
center in Clifton Forge.
The move will double its workforce there.
It has been a relatively quiet week in the bidding war between Norfolk
Southern and C-S-X for Conrail.
The fireworks resume in just a few days though, when N-S will try to derail
the C-S-X/Conrail agreement in court.
Checking the financial markets for the week, the Dow Jones Industrial
Average rose 128 points, while Nasdaq finished up 4 points.

undergraduates of any public university in the country.
That comes from the Autumn 1996 Journal of Blacks in Higher Education.
Figures show that 84 percent of the black students who entered U-V-A from
