A women's religious beliefs almost cost her her life.
Seventy-two- year- old Doris McDaniel refused a blood transfusion following
surgery for colon cancer for religious reasons.
She is a Jehovah witness.
Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital felt it was ethically bound to honor the
patient's request.
But after a judge intervened, Doris McDaniel got a blood transfusion.
Family members also said she changed her mind once it became clear she was
facing death.
The family's attorney said the woman's condition has improved since she got
the transfusion Wednesday night.

ago.
Bennett was executed last night for the 19-85 murder of a Chesterfield
County woman.

night at the Greensville Correctional Center.
