Police have found what was a missing car, two bodies and a lot of unanswered

The state lab says there's no sign of blood on the knife Jens Soering's
lawyer thought might exonerate him.
Soering is due back in court in Bedford next month for a hearing on whether
he deserves a new trial.
His lawyer will argue that a couple of hitchhikers who killed a Roanoke man
around the same time could have murdered Derek and Nancy Haysom, rather than
the German honors student from U-V-a.
An appeals court sent the case back to the trial judge to decide whether to
try it again.
A surprise in the O-J Simpson case today.

Proceedings ended abruptly when the defnse said it won't question Simpson-
at least not now.
Plaintiffs have been questioning Simpson for three days in the civil trial-
but no cross examination from the defense.
Defense lawyers said they need more time to prepare- the Judge granted
their request- recessing court until Monday.
But one juror won't be back.
Judge Hiroshi Fujisaki dismissed a woman on the jury saying she tried to
contact lawyers or their employees.
Was the C-I-A connected to crack cocaine trafficking to help fund
Former Rebel leaders denied the claims at a Senate hearing today-

But protestors in the room stood up and shouted out saying investigators
don't want to get at the truth.
The hearing is one of a series--investigating charges made in a story that
ran in a San Jose newspspaer last summer.

showing the crash of an Ethiopian airliner over the weekend.
These pictures were taken by someone on the beach.
It shows the airliner crashing into the water and breaking into pieces.
The jetliner ran out of fuel and plunged into the water off the Comoros
Hijackers demanded they be taken to Australia but refused to let the pilots
stop to refuel.
Take a look at this amazing video one more time.
127 people died in the crash- 52 survived- some swimming to shore.
It's believed all three hijackers were killed in the crash.

Attorney general Jim Gilmore has given the green light to law enforcement
officials who want to use children in cigarette buying "sting" operations.

The special election to fill Virgil Goode's state senate seat will be held
Today Governor Allen confirmed the date.
Democratic Delegate Roscoe Reynolds of Martinsville is running
against Republican Delegate Allen Dudley of Rocky Mount.
If Dudley wins, the G-O-P would gain a majority in the 40-member
Goode, a Democrat from Rocky Mount, was elected to the fifth District
congressional seat in November.

Scientists believe they're another step closer to understanding breast
In 1994-- they identified a gene called B-R-C-A-ONE, and linked it to some
inherited cases of breast cancer.
Now they've discovered another gene, called B-A-R-D-ONE, which also
appears to be connected to the disease.
Their findings are published in the journal "Nature Genetics."

Another new study supports the claims that exposure to the sun can cause
Yale university scientists say they found that skin chronically exposed to
sunlight had up to ten times more cancer causing gene mutations than other
skin....suggesting a strong link between the rays and the disease.

The Salem-Roanoke County Bar association met today to make its endorsement.
