phone calls to young girls.

defile his victims.
Obremski got an additional 31-years added on to his sentence today in

Counties.

Now serving two life terms for killing his girlfriend's parents, Soering is
due back in court in Bedford in two weeks.
His lawyer will argue that a couple of hitchhikers who killed a Roanoke man
around the same time could have murdered Derek and Nancy Haysom, rather than
the German honors student from U-V-a.

An accident involving a fire truck and a police car has prompted the city of
Radford to fire one one of its full-time firefighters.
Tommy Long has been a paid firefighter in Radford for more than 20 years.
After the accident last Thursday night state police charged him with driving
under the influence.
Radford police chief A.C. Earles says the fire truck nicked a police car
that was parked at a wreck at Rock Road and Auburn Avenue.
No one was hurt. The fire truck and the police car sustained minor damage.

Virginia Public Safety Secretary Jerry Kilgore is stepping down.
Kilgore is expected to announce a bid for Attorney General.
That brings to four the number of Republicans interested in running for
Attorney General in 1997.

Governor George Allen since 1993.

The Virginia Department of Health has just completed its second annual
survey of how often illegal sales of tobacco to minors are made.
About 100 youth volunteers tried to purchase tobacco at more than one
thousand stores and vending machines around the state.
They were successful in making an illegal purchase 37 percent of the time.
