Danville police are still looking for answers into the murder of the elderly
couple from earlier this week.
On Tuesday, the bodies of Jessie and Elizabeth Kendrick were found inside
their Springfield Road home.
They were both shot in the head... and authorities believe they had been
dead for several days before they were discovered.
A window had been pried open and their car had been stolen.
And at this point, police have yet to make an arrest.

And Danville police have yet another death they are investigating today--a
man was shot and killed in his home early this morning.
24- year-old Willie Troy Kernodle was found in his home on Ross Street with
gunshot wounds to the chest.
He was taken to Danville Regional Memorial Center where he was pronounced
dead on arrival.
Police have not released any other details in the case.

Defense Secretary William Perry says good intelligence work has stopped
terrorist activity and led to arrests in Saudi Arabia -- where U-S forces are
on high alert.
Perry made his comments to reporters on the way to Kuwait after meeting with
American troops in Bosnia.

battle to stay in charge of the Bosnian Serb military.
Mladic twice has been indicted by a U-N (TRIBUNE-uhl) tribunal for genocide.
Politicians wanted Mladic out of the way, saying he was a liability because
of the two indictments.
His departure is a major concession, since he refused to go when he was
fired November ninth.

asking his ex-girlfriend to confess that she killed her parents.

asking her to tell the truth.
The letter was written last Thursday and released by Soering's lawyer
yesterday.
Soering confessed to killing Derek and Nancy Haysom in 1985, but recanted
the confessions at his trial.

serving a portion of his jail time tomorrow.
But at this point there's still no definitive word as to his punishment by
school officials.

in fact suspended.
But one member told News- 7 this afternoon that only the superintendent has
the authority to confirm the action.

A local hunter is recovering, after he was accidentally shot in the stomach.
Sheriff's deputies say Eric Reynolds and Michael Turner were hunting deer
together, when Reynolds mistakenly fired a round at Turner.
The victim remains at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after undergoing surgery.
Reynolds has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm.
Authorities say neither hunter was wearing blaze orange at the time of the
shooting.

Congressman- Elect Virgil Goode has been appointed to the House Committee on
Agriculture.

Goode's replacing Fifth District Representative L- F Payne who's retiring
from Congress at the end of the year.
The agriculture committee has primary jurisdiction over specialty crops such
as tobacco and peanuts.
The majority of Virginia's tobacco is grown in the Fifth District.
The committee also oversees the dairy, livestock and poultry programs as
well as programs such as food stamps.

The marshes in the small town of Warrens, historically produce some of the
juiciest berries in America.
The fruit started turning up on the holiday table during the early 17-
hundreds.
And they're now a major cash crop for farmers all across the country.
In fact about 340 million pounds of cranberries are consumed each year.
Twenty percent of which are eaten at Thanksgiving.

More than two thousand young musicians set a new record today by playing in
the world's largest orchestra.
The 2,845 young people smashed the previous world record by playing together
for 15 minutes at the internationally-renned Birmingham Symphony Hall.
