But Archie, or "Albert" Moore, never showed up.
And this morning he became the fourth person found dead by Danville Police in the past three days.

This is how residents of the Cabin Lake apartments reacted after watching Albert Moore, a man in his early 20's, being taken out of the complex in a body bag.
Just two days ago, police found the bodies of an elderly couple, Jesse and Elizabeth Kendrick in the Cabin Creek apartments next door...police are treating that case as a double murder.

And Danville police have yet another death they are investigating today--a man was shot and killed in his home early this morning.
Willie Troy Kernodle was found in his home on Ross Street with gunshot wounds to the chest.
He was taken to Danville Regional Memorial Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have not released any other details in the case.

There is some uncertainty about the status of Lord Botetourt High School football Coach Andy Ward.
The Roanoke Times quotes two school board members as saying Ward was suspended.

Board member Michael Beahm told News-7 today that Board Chairman Jim Ruhland told HIM Ward was suspended as of Tuesday. But Beahm says only Superintendent Robert Reece can actually confirm the action.
Reece is out of town for the holiday.
Monday Ward was ordered to serve 14 days in jail for speeding, and for driving with a license that was restricted because of two drunk driving charges.

Authorities believe a hunting accident might have been avoided yesterday had the victim been wearing blaze orange.
Franklin County sheriff's deputies say Michael Turner was accidentally shot in the stomach by his hunting partner... Eric Reynolds.
Reynolds has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm.
As for Turner... he underwent surgery at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

A blowout at a coal mine sediment pond in far southwest Virginia has created a huge mess, but the real damage may be minimal.

Thousands of gallons of coal slurry ran into Garden Creek, turning the water black for miles.

But officials say despite the mess, the slurry is NOT dangerous.
