There are conflicting reports out today as to whether Lord Botetourt High School Coach Andy Ward has been suspended.
The Roanoke Times is reporting that School Board Chairman Jim Ruhland and board member Michael Beahm say that Ward was suspended.

Both men denied that report this morning saying only Superintendent Robert Reece could confirm if Ward has been suspended. Reece is out of town for the holiday.
Ward got a two week jail sentence for speeding, and for driving with a license that was restricted because of two drunk driving charges.

Police in Danville say the body of a man turned up this morning within a few hundred yards of where Jesse and Elizabeth Kendrick were found shot to death on Tuesday.
The body found this morning was discovered in an apartment in the Cabin Lake complex -- a short distance from Cabin Creek, where the Kendricks were found.
Danville police say today's victim was to have picked up his sister from the airport, but didn't show up. Apartment management went into the man's home and found his body stuffed in a closet.
Police are withholding his name pending positive identification.

The Kendricks' daughter was apparently in town for Thanksgiving and notified police after she could not get anyone to the door.

A Danville man was shot and killed in his home early this morning.
Willie Troy Kernodle was found in his home on Ross Street with gunshot wounds to the chest.
He was taken to Danville Regional Memorial Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are still looking for a suspect.

A 26- year- old man is in stable condition this afternoon following a hunting accident.
Police say Michael Lorin Turner was hunting with Eric Edwards Reynolds in Franklin County when Reynolds mistakenly shot Turner.
Turner is reportedly in serious condition after surgery.
Police have charged Reynolds with reckless handling of a firearm.

Sources in the Radford fire department say a firefighter's alleged drug use may have been a public safety concern for years.
Tommy Long was fired Tuesday after being charged with a driving under the influence of drugs last Thursday.
The fire engine he was driving hit a parked police car.

Several sources who did not wish to be identified said Long's termination is overdue.
Fire chief Martin Roberts says there's only been one other incident in the three year's HE'S been chief.
He wrote Long a letter last Spring telling him to straighten up, or he'd be fired. He says there were no other problems until the accident last Thursday.
State police say Long admitted he had taken prescription medication, and that Roberts remarked at the accident scene that he could tell Long was quote "snockered."

Three Bedford Middle School eighth-graders are facing drug charges. Two 13- year- old boys face charges of Ritalin distribution and a 14- year- old faces a charge of Ritalin possession.
Police say the three, along with a fourth boy, also were suspended from school last week.
School officials say one of the boys had a prescription for the drug and brought it to school.
Authorities say the boys were planning to distribute the drug.

A prisoner who was raped by his cellmate does not have a claim against the warden of Augusta Correctional Center.
William Dixon said he was raped in May 1994, four nights after being assigned to share a cell with Johnny Turner.
The U-S District Judge said the warden should have known how dangerous Turner was and that the officer used "poor judgement" in cell assignments.
But he found that Saunders was not deliberately trying to risk Dixon and that's why the claim was rejected.

A-T-and-T says it's raising rates nearly six percent on most of the interstate long-distance calls made by consumers.
The new, higher charges take effect Sunday, the same day M-C-I is scheduled to raise its rates.
