football game special that preceded today's game.
Good afternoon everybody and welcome to a wild open and wild Lane Stadium on
the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg.
In about 45 minutes the Commonwealth's most heated rivalry will renew itself
for 78th time here on Worsham Field.
In the next 30 minutes the News 7 Sports team will attempt to get you pumped
up for today's game.
So, even though you're not one of the 50 thousand fans making up this sellout
crowd, we plan to treat you like you're sitting on the 50 yard line.

rather impressive trophy planted to my left.
This is the brand new Commonwealth Cup that will go to the winning school
after today's game.
The trophy, which was created by Josten's, will be up for grabs year time
Tech and UVa play, and the winner will have the honor of displaying it on their
campus for a full year.
Now, as we said 50 thousand fans are here this afternoon, but by no means are
they alone.
