With the cold, rainy conditions the players had trouble staying loose today.
And they were extra tight because this game was scoreless in the fourth
quarter.
Thomas Dale appeared to be headed to the endzone from the GW five. Mark Davis
keeps the ball, but he is knocked for a loss by Tyrone Nunally, and the Knights
ended up missing the field goal to keep things scoreless.
GW's defense would again have to save the day, as Davis's pass is picked off
by Eric Candy inside the 20. Regulation would end in a scoreless tie and then
game then went to overtime.
GW quarterback Chanston Rodgers would finally ice the game with the eight
yard run on their first possesion to

make it 6-to-nothing.
Then Mike Riano would add the extra point as Danville beats Thomas Dale
7-to-nothing to stay unbeaten on the season.

In the Division Two semi-finals, the Giles Spartans not only stayed unbeaten
on the year, but also delivered a little payback today to Powell Valley, the
team that knocked Giles out of the playoffs last year.

The defending State Champs came to Pearisburg hoping to keep their heads above
water.
The Vikings looked hot in their opening drive. On their first play of the
game Julius Jones, Thomas Jones younger brother, takes the handoff and streaks
down the left sideline 77 yards, untouched for the touchdown to make it
7-to-nothing. That was the score at halftime.
Giles would comeback halfway through the third as Chris Ratcliffe goes right
around end picking up 6 yards for the touchdown. But the two point conversion
failed and Giles still trailed by one.
The Spartans would finally go on top for good a minute and half into the
fourth quarter as Ratcliffe hooks with Chris Bales on an 11 yard touchdown pass

For the first time since 1988, Brookville will play for the state football
championship after a thrilling 13 to 12 rain soaked win over previously
unbeaten Gate City.

SUPER=03-Campbell Co./Division 3 Semi-Finals;
The visiting Blue Devils seemed pretty confident about things before
kickoff, but the Bees trotted onto the soggy turf with some different plans.
Brookville felt 'blue' early on. Gate City puts 6 foot 9 Josh Shoemaker at
wideout, and Matt Osborne lobs the alley-oop into the end zone for a 14 yard
TD. The PAT failed and the Blue Devils led 6-nothing.
Brookville came right back. Jason Brown hits big James Lomax who rumbles
and stumbles 64 yards to paydirt to tie things up at 6 in the second quarter.
Then just before the half, Brown hits Lomax again for a 6 yard strike and
the Bees took a 13-6 lead to the lockerroom at halftime.
It would stay that way until late in the 4th. Shoemaker scrambles and
finally finds Brandon Seaver in the endzone with just over 5 minutes to go. But
another botched extra point left Brrokville with a 1 point lead.
The Devils had one more shot. But SUPER=36-Brookville/13/Gate City/12; :
Lomax is "Johnny on the spot" with the INT and Brookville holds on for a 13-12
win.
