An icy road is being blamed for a traffic fatality in Amherst County.
State police say 46- year- old Vernon Drummond, Junior was killed in an accident on Route 29, this morning.
Police say Drummond was trying to pass a tractor-trailer when he lost control of his pickup, struck a guard rail and then was hit by the truck.
This fatality is part of the surprising wintry weather that blanketed the area yesterday.

The mudslide struck as about 50 men were repairing a concrete dam that was damaged by flooding last year.

The Federal government is changing its strategy in the prosecution of Unabomber suspect Theodore Kaczynski.
Officials want to try Kaczynski first in New Jersey for a murder there.
That trial would begin in June.
Kaczynski would then face another murder trial in November in California. But Kaczynski's lawyers are requesting a single trial in California on all the unabomber charges.

Blacksburg police believe they may finally close the books on a burglary that happened in 19-93.
More than 125 thousand dollars worth of property, mostly jewelry and silver was stolen from a residence in the southeast part of town.
Police connected gypsies from New York to that break-in, as well as several others.
Monica Frydrych (Freed-rick) was a suspect at the time.
Last month police in Palm Beach, Florida arrested her for suspicion of burglary there.
She's awaiting extradition to Blacksburg.
