Should the State Board of Education have a say in what educational instruction local school board members should have?
The Virginia School Boards Association says no.
And now it's suing the board.
The suit is about school board members who take classes to help them serve on the board.
In the past, LOCAL school boards decided whether or not to pay for those classes.
But the STATE board has given itself the authority to force local school boards to pay for the classes.
The school board association, which represents all the boards in the state, is asking a Richmond Circut Court to stop the STATE board from using it's new power.
