The German diplomat's son claims he will be cleared of the murders that occured eleven years ago.
(----------------)
VO-NAT
SUPER=03-Bedford/Today;

Soering says the prosecution withheld evidence during his first trial in 1990, for the slayings of Derek and Nancy Haysom.
They were found in their Boonsboro home in April of 1985.
Each had been stabbed several times and had their throats cut.
Today, former Bedford County Deputy George Anderson testified he picked up two drifters a few days after the murders, and one of them reportedly left a knife in his patrol car.
Experts say the knife could have been used to commit the Haysom murders.
The drifters later were arrested for the stabbing death of a homeless man in Roanoke.
Soering's attorney says all this evidence might have swayed that 1990 jury in her client's favor had they heard it.
(----------------)

SS=HOLD

The question of whether investigators withheld exculpatory evidence was the focus of today's court hearing.
Both sides will wrap up their arguments tomorrow.
Judge William Sweeney is "not" expected to rule on Soering's request for a new trial for several days.

It's called "Minimally-invasive Direct Coronary Artery Bypass"-- that's Mid-Cab, for short-- and it is less invasive than standard bypass surgery.
Bypasses are performed to get around blockages in the coronary arteries and restore blood flow to the heart muscle.
But with this new procedure, instead of opening the chest, the surgeon makes a much smaller incision in the patient's side....and there's no need to be hooked to a heart-lung machine, as is the case with the standard operation.
Instead, the heart continues to beat on its own throughout the procedure.
