Fred Goldman took the stand today in the O-J Simpson trial-

A former Halifax elementary school teacher convicted of possessing crack
cocaine could spend up to ten years in prison.
Dorothy Ferrell was found guilty this afternoon and immediately taken to
second grade teacher and a school custodian were arrested in April after
authorities found crack cocaine and a pipe used to smoke it in her car.
Ferrell's attorney pointed the finger at someone else, saying Pauline Rues
(Rooz), who was also in the car, was the one caught holding the drug the night
the three were arrested in Burchland Park.
Authorities refer to the area as an open air drug market.

Dorothy Ferrell's case was heard by a judge because so many of the
potential jurors had already heard or read about the case.
Ferrell is also facing a second trial-- while free on bond she was picked up
once again in Burchland park on drug charges.
Authorities are looking into a fire this morning at Rubatex in Bedford.
Smoke poured from the company's Waltex division just after 11:30 after an
explosion in an oven.
No word on what might have touched off that blast.
The smoke got into the duct work and made it hard for firefighters to get
things under control.

Air bags were designed with the average size person in mind.
On impact, they deploy explosively at 200 miles per hour.
Safety officials stress that air bags are a supplemental restraint and
should always be used with a lap and shoulder belt.
Boston researchers are urging doctors to prescribe a particularly powerful
blood thinner--- more often.
They say the drug "Warfarin" cuts the risk of stroke from atrial
fibrillation-- by 67-percent.
Atrial fibrillation is a heart-rhythm problem that increases the chance of
a blood clot breaking free and causing a stroke.
About two-million Americans suffer from the condition-- but only about a
third studied were given the drug.
Researchers reporting in the Medical Journal of Australia say
they've discovered a potential link between childhood leukemia and
electromagnetic radiation from television transmission towers.
They say the highest rates of the cancer in Sydney-- were in neighborhoods
surrounded by towers.
But they believe more research needs to be done before any conclusions are
made about any dangers of living near t-v towers.

Revlon is betting you'll say yes.
The company has a new line of "Beauty Vitamins"
But do they actually work?
The line has one product said to help with weight loss, another for hair,
another for nails...and one with antioxidants said to help give you healthier

Revlon would not agree to an interview with CBS on the topic.
A spoonful of sugar may help the medicine go down, but researchers say a
glass of grapefruit juice will often boost the medicine's effectiveness.
To their surprise, researchers have found that a number of drugs
are absorbed into the body more easily when taken with grapefruit juice.
There is a sour side, however.
Because it boosts blood levels of certain drugs, grapefruit juice may
cause people to overdose inadvertently.
Consult your doctor for information about your medication.
