A local dating service is no longer signing up new members, and it's current
member's accounts will be temporarily transferred out of state.
Eric Earnhart is live in our Newsroom with more about Together Dating
Jean, Together dating service's Roanoke franchise recently laid
some of their staff members, yesterday, their doors were locked.
We called their corporate headquarters to see what was going on.
Together Dating Service's corporate headquarters told us this morning that
the local office's franchise had been terminated, because it was not making
enough sales, and because of a negative rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Owner John Byron told us that wasn't true, but wouldn't elaborate on camera.

Roanoke County schools have become grounds for random drug searches.
When it happens it is a surprise to the students and administrators.
While school officials expect the searches sometime during the year, the
police arrive with their K-9 units without warning.
Today the team of nine officers paid an unannounced visit to Hidden Valley
Junior High School.

Police say not only do they execute the searches to make arrests, but to
send the message that drugs are not tolerated in Roanoke County schools.

A pilot from Roanoke walked away from a plane crash in Georgia.
Dwight Holland's plane hit a tree yesterday as he was trying to land at an
Airport outside of Atlanta.
Authorities say Holland missed the runway by about one hundred feet.
Firefighters had to use a cherry-picker to get him out of the plane.
The craft was stuck in a tree about 60 feet up.
Holland was not hurt.
The debate over religious displays in public spaces has taken a new twist in
Governor George Allen has welcomed a nativity scene and a Hannukah display
into his formal waiting room.
The Governor even helped set it up.

The labor department says most repetitive stress injuries are from
assembly-line speedups, constant and heavy lifting and long hours
typing at keyboards.
Re-designed equipment, more work breaks, and a change in worker routines
can help solve the health threat.
A new study in today's Journal of the American Medical Association
highlights a procedure used in treating skin cancer that might also work for

This patient had a melanoma, a deadly form of skin cancer.
Rather than removing the group of lymph nodes under his arm to see if the
cancer spread-- his doctors injected the site of his cancer with a radioactive
isotope and using a special probe, followed the tracer to a lymph node.
Then under a local anasthetic a small incision was made and only the one
lymph node was removed to test for cancer.

A new study has found it might also work for breast cancer patients-- and
could change what treatment they'd need.

The breast cancer study in JAMA looked at 62 breast cancer patients and
found that in the 18 cases where the cancer had spread....the sentinel lymph
node tested positive in each of those cases.
So, it seems to be very accurate, without being invasive.
British doctors say they've figured out how carrots fight cancer.
They claim that the beta-carotene in carrots as well as other vegetables
starts a chain reaction.
It stimulates a molecule, which in turn, helps the immune system pinpoint
and kill cancer cells.
Government researchers say magnesium appears to significantly reduce the
risk of cerebral palsy and retardation in newborns.... if it's taken in large
doses by women when they are pregnant.
The mineral is commonly prescribed for pre-term labor and high-blood
pressure during pregnancy.
Scientists don't know how the magnesium works...so they aren't yet
recommending that all pregnant women take a supplement, or eat green leafy
vegetables, nuts or whole grains.
In Japan, a decades-old ban on the birth control pill may be lifted within
