Roanoke police continue to search for answers in last night's fatal shooting
in Northwest Roanoke.
17- year- old Antwan Gray was shot and killed in the 24- hundred block of
Centre Avenue.
This afternoon dozens of his friends returned to the scene to pay their
respects.

This was the scene last night at the Lansdowne Housing Complex.
Gray... who had apparently been standing on the sidewalk... was gunned down.
Once police got to the scene, they found more than a hundred people
outside... staring in disbelief at his body.
This afternoon another crowd gathered at that same spot, but to remember
their fallen friend... and talk about the good times they shared with him.

Puppyland's lawyer says it's just one example of Channel 10's "reckless

Officially the case is not about animal abuse. It's a libel case. But the
tales of mistreatment of dog from former customers and employees support
underscores Channel 10's position that it was just reporting the facts.
One woman who worked at Puppyland during the summer of 1994 told the jury
she challenged Chris Benson for labeling one customer's dog as a "biter."

Covington's Edgemont Primary School will remain closed tomorrow, as repair
crews work on a leaking boiler.
School Superintendent Tommy Robertson says when the leak was discovered
yesterday, students and teachers were removed from rooms located near the
boiler as a precaution against exposure to potentially harmful carbon monoxide.
Robertson says the parents of three students later took them to
an the hospital, where they were treated and released.

25 years ago Lem Davis Tuggle Junior raped and killed 17 year old Shirley
Brickey after an American Legion dance in Smyth County.
12 years later he was paroled from prison only to rape and kill again.
That time the victim was 52 year old Jesse Havens. He met her at the same
American Legion dance hall. It is for her murder that he faces almost certain
execution in three hours.
