The suspect in the murder of a teenager in Northwest Roanoke turned himself
in this afternoon...now he's charged with capital murder.
Police say the 17-year old is accused of gunning down 17-year old Antwan
Gray Wednesday night on Centre Avenue, near the Lansdowne Apartment Complex.
Police believe the suspect was standing on top of a hill and shot down at
Gray, but at this point won't talk about a motive.
They ARE saying that neighborhood patrols have been beefed up.

The suspect is being held at the Coyner Springs Detention Center... where he
had previously been part of the facility's Outreach Program.
He'll be arraigned Monday morning.
It's unknown if he'll be charged as an adult.
Virginia Military Institute says Coach Bill Stewart left for personal
reasons. But players confirm he did use a racial slur.
The coach's future seemed secure, when he received a lengthy contract
extension in March.
Some of Stewart's players say they're sad to see their coach go, but realize
the administration was doing its job.

Someone has allegedly threatened
and abused two female cadets at The Citadel.
The women say they even had their clothes set on fire-- neither cadet was

The Citadel called in investigators after getting a report of a hazing.
The F-B-I will be looking into possible civil rights violations.
Four women were admitted to The Citadel in August, two months after the
school dropped its male-only admission policy.

The Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership got a big vote of confidence
The V-WIL program was designed as an alternative to letting women into VMI.
Governor George Allen announced this evening that even though women will
enter VMI next fall -- he'll recommend full funding for V-WIL too.
About 95 women are expected to enter the V-WIL program at Mary Baldwin
College next fall.
That would be an increase of 30 over this year's class.
Liberty University has one year to get its financial house in order, or risk
losing its academic accreditation.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools placed L-U on probation
while the school tries to restructure more than 40 million dollars of debt.
School Chancellor-- Reverend Jerry Falwell says many of Liberty's creditors
are ready to forgive or donate half that debt over the next two months.

The University of Virginia is losing its offensive Coordinator Tom O'Brien.
It's reported tonight in Boston that O'Brien has been named the new head
coach at Boston College.
O'Brien is in his sixth season as offensive coordinator at Virginia. He's
been with Head Coach George Welsh for the past 21 years first at Navy and at
U-V-A has finished among the top three teams in the A-C-C in scoring
offense the last seven season.
O'Brien will succeed Dan Henning as the Eagles head coach.
