They ARE saying that neighborhood patrols have been beefed up.

Shortly after 10 this morning a man entered NationsBank on Melrose Avenue in Roanoke.
Police say the man-- carrying a gun-- gave a note to the teller demanding money.
But the teller apparently told the would-be robber there was no cash in her drawer.
Police say the man left the bank without the money.
The F-B-I and the Roanoke City Police are looking for the suspect. dissolve to pinnacle
Authorities describe him as a black man between six-FEET and six-TWO -- weighing 180 to 200 pounds, wearing a heavy coat and knit hat.
If caught he faces charges of attempted robbery as well as firearms charges.
