Around 10 the Plummers heard a loud bang.

That's when they noticed an uninvited guest in their garage.
Police say 84-year-old Mabel Johnson Overstreet was traveling west on Harvest Lane when she failed to make a sharp left turn on to Garstland Drive.
Overstreet ran through a fence, off a three foot wall and into the Plummer's garage.

A Floyd County man died in an early morning accident.
Police say 37-year-old Terry Amos Peters of Check was driving down route 2-21 just north of route 3-42 in Floyd County, when he lost control of his pick-up truck.
Peters apparently ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected then crossed both lanes and struck an embankment.
Peters was thrown from the truck.
The accident happened around three.
He died at the scene.

A domestic dispute in Campbell County ended when an Evington woman shot and killed her husband.
Investigators say 36-year-old Linda Parsons shot her husband during an argument early yesterday morning.
45-year-old Donald Wayne Parsons died at the scene.
Linda Parsons in the Campbell County Jail, charged with first degree murder.
The couple's 9- year- old son was home when the shooting happened, but police aren't sure if he saw what happened.
Investigators think alcohol was a factor in the incident.

A fight between two Martinsville men ended with one dead, the other charged with murder.
Henry County deputies broke up a fight between 20 year old Spencer O'Neil Moir and 18-year-old Lewis Tyrone Harriston, Junior, at a Collinsville fast food restaurant early yesterday morning.
The two men met up again at a convience store in Martinsville.
Witnesses say Harriston allegedly pulled a gun and shot Moir in the chest.
Police say Harriston tried to shoot two other people, but the gun wouldn't fire.
Harriston is in the Martinsville City Jail without bond.

A Northwest Roanoke teenager accused of fatally shooting another teen last week will be arraigned tomorrow.
The 17- year- old is charged with capital murder.

The suspect is being held at the Coyner Springs Detention Center where he had previously been part of the facility's Outreach Program.
The youth's identity is not being released.

He's accused of gunning down ANOTHER 17-year old, Antwan Gray.
Gray was killed Wednesday night in the 24-hundred block of Centre Avenue adjacent to the Lansdowne Apartment Complex.

A vehicle accident knocked- off power for about 100 homes and businesses.

Three blocks of homes surrounding that area were without electricity for about 30 minutes.

Most Norfolk Southern clerks offered early retirement will keep working on the railroad.
Just nine of 400 workers accepted the deal, which has a 35-thousand dollar gross payment.
The union representing CFW directory assistance workers in Clifton Forge has filed federal charges against the company, accusing it of deliberately trying to make the negotiations fail.
CFW calls the charges frivolous, saying at one point the union delayed the bargaining for three months.
The rapid expansion of First Citizens in Virginia is benefitting Roanoke.
The North Carolina based bank will put a credit card service center near the airport, creating about 45 new jobs.
A Southside furniture company has won a large contract with one of the country's leading hotel chains.
American of Martinsville has signed an agreement to supply all of the wood furniture for Marriott International.
Checking the financial markets for the week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 77 points, while Nasdaq finished down about 3 points.

A sad note for sports fans in the Roanoke Valley. Former Virginia Tech basketball star Bob Ayersman died yesterday after apparently suffering a heart attack while shopping at Valley View Mall.
The West Virginia native played for the Hokies in the late 50's and early 60's. And he is the number six scorer in Tech history.
