It's one of the worst aircraft disasters Southwestern Virginia has ever
Last night about 6:15 an Airborne Express Cargo plane went down in Giles
County killing all six people on board.
The delivery company recently purchased the plane and workers were taking it
on a test flight from North Carolina to Ohio.

Alami's sister Stella was also taken hostage when terrorists stormed the
Japanese ambassador's residence in Lima.
She was released a few days before her husband.
Alami spoke with (Merr-Shrawd) Merschrod today.
He told her that the hostages were treated surprisingly well.
In spite of the situation, there was a relatively relaxed atmosphere, and
the hostages were NOT sitting around the house since Tuesday with guns pointed
to their heads.

Two people were taken to the hospital.
The blast happened during the third shift after eleven last night at the
Wyman-Gordon Forging company.
A welder's torch used near a high pressure pump may have caused the blast.

Yeltsin looked much thinner and still a bit unsteady on his feet several
weeks after major heart surgery.

But former Russian national security advisor Alexander (Leh-bed) Lebed says
Yeltsin is too sick to run the country.
Lebed, who was fired by Yeltsin, alleges the President is drinking again.

But the death rate from cancer is just now starting to fall according to
the National Cancer Institute.
The decrease is attributed to improved detection and treatment.
