An Airborne Express cargo plane went down near the town of Narrows, killing
all six people on board. Apparently the plane was recently purchased and

Merschrod believes his captors have more earnest intentions than The Shining
Path, another rebel organization in Peru known for its violence.

A familiar Republican has stepped forward hoping to fill the shoes of state
senator elect Roscoe Reynolds.
58- year old Phil Plaster announced over the weekend he's seeking the
republican nomination to run in the special election.
Plaster is a former member of the Patrick County board of supervisors
He ran once before for Reynolds' seat in 1995.
Last week, Democrat Barnie Day announced his intentions to run for state
The earliest date for a special election is January 14th.

The fire that caused 125-thousand dollars in damage to a Henry County church
appears to be accidental.
The Victory Baptist Church on Route 609 near Fieldale was damaged from fire,
heat and smoke.
Investigators believe a candle in some christmas decorations may have
ignited the fire around 9-45 last night.
The blaze apparently started in the left side of the pulpit, near the piano.
The state fire marshal's office will contact area churches to offer safety
inspections in hopes of preventing any future losses.

The mall is offering extended hours for those last minute shoppers.

The Virginia Tech Hokies continued their preparations for their New year's
