Two badly decomposed bodies were found in a Southwest Roanoke apartment this
Police say it may have been a murder- suicide.
Maintenance workers were called to 4-29 Day Avenue after other residents in
the building complained of a foul odor.
When the workers opened the door they found one man lying on a sofa, the
other man on his back on the floor.
A worker identified one of the men.
He said the black man in his 50s had rented the apartment for at least a
Police say the men had been dead for about a week.
A gun was found near one of the victims.
Police have not released their names.
Three children who were apparently left home alone escaped unharmed from
their burning house this morning.
Fire officials believe clothes on top of a floor furnace started the blaze
on Southern Hills Drive in Roanoke.
The girls, two sisters and a friend ran to a neighbor's house for help.

The girls thought their mother was inside the house. One child hurt her
hand trying to get into the mother's room.
When police found the woman elsewhere she said a neighbor was supposed to be
watching the kids.
The house and its contents were destroyed.
A gunman is holding his ex-girlfriend and several other people hostage at
a Chicago area mall.
Police say the gunman burst into a beauty salon and fired shots sending
customers running outside.
Police then surrounded the mall in Skokie and got the customers out.

Police have not been inside but apparently the gunman has told them no one
has been hurt.
The suspect was dating one of the women who is beign held inside the salon.
Police say it may have been a disgruntled boyfriend who opened fire at a
California McDonalds- killing one worker and wounding two others.
Police say a man walked into the restaurant and began shooting at
employees- killing a 17 year old girl.
The two other victims are in stable condition with gunshot wounds to their

Police in Boulder Colorado are trying to solve the mysterious murder of a
six year old.
The child was found slain in the basement of her home- hours after her
mother discovered a ranson note indicating the child had been kidnapped.
