Police in Roanoke say the double shooting discovered at the Day Avenue
Apartments appears to be a murder-suicide
And some parents say a popular christmas present is attacking their
News 7 at 11 is next.
State Police say they are assisting the Pulaski County Sheriff's department
in what appears to be a double homicide.
They're are now on the scene on Alum Spring Road.
An eyewitness went by the residence about an hour ago and said he saw two
bodies and police in the resident's front yard.
A news 7 crew is in route to the scene.
Will have more informations as it becomes availible.
Gun shot wounds to the head is the official cause of death for two men found
in a Day Avenue apartment.
Medical Examiner, Dr. David Oxley, says each man was shot once in the head.
Police say the bullets match the gun at the scene further pointing to a
But they are still not releasing the victims' names.
The badly decomposed bodies were found yesterday afternoon.
And as Denise Allen tells us residents are wondering if their neighborhood
can be saved.

((Neighbors looked on as police removed the bodies of two men from this Day
Avenue apartment house yesterday afternoon.
This time police say it may have been a murder-suicide.
But it was only six months ago that similar site rocked Day Avenue.
On June sixth the bodies of Manfred and Wanda Woody were found in the
kitchen of their Day Avenue apartment.
That double murder has not been solved.
Gerald Martin has lived on Day Avenue for nearly 30 years and says the good
old days are gone.

Hanover Direct anounced over one third of their local workforce will get

Duncan says Hanover Direct has met it's incentive agreements with Roanoke
Company officials say Hanover Direct will still employ more than 700 people
even after the layoffs.
President Clinton is giving automakers the go-ahead to change the way air
bags are made.
Responding to concerns that airbags can be dangerous for children and
others, the President said automakers would be allowed to install less powerful
bags in new cars.
The new bags would also be easier for consumers to disconnect.
Mr. Clinton predicted the new rules could take affect this spring.
Another 20 hostages were released in Peru today.
The release came just after the rebels had their first face to face meeting
with a government representative.

Holiday travelers are getting hung up on the east coast.
Airport delays are reported in Atlanta, Charlotte, and New York.
The main problem is a computer glitch at the air traffic control center in

The Greyhound station, located on main street, has been on a six- month
trial run that ends Tuesday.
Some members of city council had been concerned that buses would tie- up

places like Roanoke, Henry County, Christiansburg, and Rocky Mount.
In May western Virginia closely followed the ups and downs of Optical
The Roanoke County company went public a few months before at ten dollars a
share, and some positive press helped it surge well over a hundred for a while.
And nurses and other employees at the region's largest employer began
contemplating union membership this fall.
Carilion Health System employees say it's because some of the changes
planned with its reengineering have gone too far.

The program is a part of Drunk and Drugged Driving month.
