Police suspect a murder suicide, because the fatal bullets are the same
caliber as a gun found at the scene.
They say an additional test could tell them whether either of the men fired
the fatal shots.
A fatal shooting in Pulaski County over the weekend appeared to be a case
of murder- suicide.
And today, a medical examiner said the results of two autopsies are
consistent with that theory.
Deputies were called to the home of Betty and Douglas Burgess Saturday
night after neighbors heard gunshots.
They found the bodies lying in the front yard of the home on Alum Spring
Investigators say Douglas Burgess was holding a large caliber handgun.
Autopsies indicate that both victims died from gunshot wounds to the head.
Dr. William Masello says Douglas Burgess had a single bullet wound, while
his wife had more than one.
Four members of a leftist guerrilla gang were plucked from a prison yard
today in Chile by a helicopter.
Chilean prison officials say the chopper flew over the main yard of the
Santiago maximum-security prison and let down a basket.
Guards tried to fire at the chopper, but were outgunned by the firepower of
M-16 rifles from the helicopter.
Once the chopper was airborne, it flew to a park -- where two cars were
waiting for the four.
A little late for Christmas- -but there'll be gifts tomorrow for the
hostages being held by rebels in Peru.
For the fourth time in nearly two weeks of captivity, they'll be able to
exchange mail with friends and family.
The Red Cross says that the rebel terrorists are letting the 83 remaining
hostages send 200 letters tomorrow and expect get about 500 back.
The Red Cross also plans to deliver fresh clothes, cigarettes, candles,
insecticide, and disinfectant.
The gesture suggests the rebels are being more flexible since taking 500
people hostage at the Japanese diplomatic compound December 17th.
Food Lion's lawsuit against A-B-C hasn't cost the network much, so far.
A federal jury ordered A-B-C to pay 14-hundred dollars to the grocery chain
to cover actual damages.
Earlier the jury found A-B-C committed fraud when it went undercover to
document unsanitary conditions at Food Lion.
The 14-hundred dollars covers part of the salary Food Lion paid to two A-B-C
journalists who misrepresented themselves as job applicants.
The jury in Greensboro will consider punitive damages after the New Year.
