Trease (TERESA) Burton's Holbrook Street home caught fire yesterday morning.
The house did NOT have a smoke detector but a 12- year- old family friend who was staying over woke up with a burning throat and coughing.
Krystle Beard says she was scared, but knew she had to get help.
Beard ran into Burton's room and woke her up in time to get Burton's four young children to safety.
Only later did the two realize the full extent of the damage.

Fire Chief Haywood Belvin says the woman apparently poured kerosene into her wood stove, which already contained hot coals.
The fire flared up, and the woman dropped the container, allowing the blaze to spread even further.
She escaped without injury, but the home was a total loss.

Authorities have released the name of the man found murdered on Chapman Avenue in Roanoke Monday night.
Police say 33- year- old Larry Edward Donahue of Patterson Avenue died after he was shot in the head.
But there is still no information on a possible suspect.
This marked the city's 13th murder of 19-96.
