Franklin County authorities say last week they rescued about 100 dogs and cats from Valery Green's home.
They say the house was covered with animal feces, and puppies were piled into plastic crates.

In 1995, Valery Green was convicted of 12 misdemeanors in RADFORD, including harboring barking dogs, allowing dogs to run at large, and permitting animals to become unsanitary.
And in Montgomery County, Green is charged with obtaining an animal by false pretenses and threatening to set fire to a residence.
Liz McKinney says Green used a fake name to adopt one of McKinney's former show dogs, and violated a contract by breeding the animal for profit.
McKinney says Green threatened to burn her out if McKinney didn't drop her complaints.
In ROCKBRIDGE County, Animal Control Officer Delbert Moore says Green still owes boarding fees for loose dogs which Moore picked up.

Thirty-five year old Edwin Plunkett was holding a loaded hunting rifle when officers shot and killed him in the doorway of his home on Cherryhill Circle in northwest Roanoke.
The City Prosecutor decided the officers "reasonably believed their lives were in danger."

A circuit court judge has decided, for the time being, "NOT" to move the second murder trial of James Henry Burley out of Amherst County.

He's already been convicted of killing Robin Jeanette Burge.
Burley's attorneys argued today that media publicity surrounding the first case had made it impossible for their client to get a fair trial in Amherst County.
But Judge Michael Gamble wants to try and seat a jury first before deciding whether to move the case out of central Virginia.

The Washington Redskins have named former New York Giants Assistant Mike Nolan as their new defensive coordinator.
Nolan replaces Ron Lynn, who was fired from the position after the Redskins fell to 9 and 7 following a 7 and 1 start. In Lynn's three years the Skins defense ranked 26th, 18th, and 28th in the league.
