A number of schools have adjusted their schedules due to the water.

Police are asking motorists to use caution on the roads.

Police advise calling the power company and the rescue and fire squad if any indoor flooding rises to the level of your electrical box.
Palm Valley, Dent Road and Darby Road are impassible due to high water.
Authorities caution against trying to drive through high water.
The rain should taper off later tonight.

A South Roanoke teenager faces a murder charge after a shooting Tuesday night.

Fifteen- year- old Juwan Hale allegedly shot 20- year- old Michael Jermaine Andrews in the driveway of Hale's house.
The two are distant cousins. Andrews' parents say he got a call from Hale and drove to his house a few blocks away.
A neighbor told police Andrews hit Hale in the face before the shooting.
Andrews graduated from Patrick Henry High School last year... The head of the school's art department knew him well, and says Andrews was not the kind of person to seek out a violent confrontation.

were called to testify about a disturbing question posed to them by their fellow inmate Jessie. Kenneth Jessie is the 35- year- man old accused of killing his four- year- old stepdaughter, Annie Leftwich.

He was arrested last spring after the child, who was covered with bruises and scrapes, died in the family's Dickenson County home.
Prosecutors say Annie was gagged to death after something was placed in her mouth.
