A big winter storm has hit the state bringing freezing rain, sleet and snow.
Road conditions are very poor, forcing a number of school systems to close
or delay.

The Governor's state of the union address last night mentioned the
Commonwealth's low unemployment. Roanoke County's figure is among the
lowest, at ONE POINT NINE PERCENT.
But it may be going up.

Roughly 400 jobs will be lost including some at a smaller plant in the city of

In Bedford County, a six month undercover drug investigation has put a number
of drug dealers out of business.

The drug sting, also known as "Operation Crackdown," produced 63 charges
against 41 dealers with connections to Miami and New York.
Sheriff Mike Brown characterized them as middle and upper- level dealers
who have been importing and selling millions of dollars worth of crack cocaine
in Bedford County.
