Danville police are investigating the city's first murder of the year.

It happened shortly after eleven last night in the 500- block of Keen Street.
Authorities say 40- year old Johnny Alphonso Motley of Danville was shot multiple times in the back.
Police discovered the body lying on the street after hearing gunshots in the area.
Authorities do not have any suspects, but are attempting to question witnesses who were in the area.
Police are awaiting results of an autopsy to determine how many times Motley had been shot.

She says the animals are in good health but a little on the thin side.

Thursday night, a city council committee recommended building a new nine- million dollar school.
